This is yet another Sourashtrian traditional dish. Very tasty and frequently made in home. Its generally had with rice with a dollop of ghee added. Very simple to prepare also. 'Pani' in Hindi implies water. So as the name implies 'Dal Pani' is thin dal curry tempered with basic spices.

Ingredients
2 cups toor dal
1/2 ts turmeric powder
1/2 ts mustard
Few curry leaf

To grind
1 medium sized onion chopped
3-4 ts grated coconut
1 ts jeera
2 red chillies

Preparation
  1. Cook dal in pressure cooker with enough water, salt and turmeric powder.
  2. Meanwhile grind onion, coconut, jeera and red chilli and make a paste of it.
  3. Take a kadai. Add ooil. Once hot add mustard seed and curry leaf. Add the grounded paste and fry for a while. Add the cooked dal, enough water and let it boil.
