2 cups dates
1/2 cup dried figs
1/2 cup walnuts
1/3 cup badam
1/4 cup cashew
1/3 cup pistachios
1/3 cup sunflower seeds
1 tbs ghee
Can include other dry fruits like raisins, cranberries, apricots too.
Extra flavouring ( optional)
5 cardamoms ( powdered)
1/4 ts nutmeg powder
2 ts white kasa kasa
Preparation
- Chop dates and dried figs into very very small pieces
- Chop the other dry fruits into bite size pieces. Chop them with a knife. Using a blender will make them very powdery.
- Dry roast kasa kasa until it leaves a good aroma and begins to splutter.
- Add ghee in a heavy bottom kadai. Roast the chopped nuts in a medium flame until they release a good aroma.
- Add roasted kasa kasa, cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Give an even mix.
- Now add chopped figs and dates. Cook in medium flame. Mix, smash and combine them evenly until everything collects together into a ball.
- Remove and spread the burfi mixture onto a plate. Let it cool down.
- While still warm enough to touch divide them into 3-4 portions. Grease your palms with little ghee. Roll and shape the portions into even shaped cylindrical logs. Wrap them in a aluminium foil and close the ends in the shape of a toffee.
- Refrigerate them for 2-4 hours.
- Then remove the wrap and slice them thick with a sharp knife.
