This cabbage peas subzi is a simple healthy preparation. For a comforting meal pair it with roti and dal chawal.
Ingredients
2 cups chopped cabbage
1/3 cup frozen green peas
1/2 ts mustard seed
1 ts cumin seed
2 green chillies, 2 red chillies
1/4 ts hing
1/2 ts turmeric powder
1 inch ginger piece (grated finely)
Few curry leaves
Few coriander leaves
Preparation
- Boil cabbage with enough water and salt in a small saucepan until half cooked. Drain water through a colander. Take few cabbage between palms of hands to squeeze out excess water in them and also to make them soft. Repeat that for all cabbage.
- In a hot kadai add oil and temper oil with mustard seed, cumin seed, red chilli, green chilli, hing, turmeric powder, ginger and curry leaves.
- Add the green peas and give a good stir. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Combine in the half cooked cabbage and enough salt. Mix everything well.
- Cook in simmer until the cabbage is fully cooked and the subzi is devoid of all moisture.
- Finally add coriander leaves and give a good stir.
