Broccoli is loaded with a whole lot of nutrients. A simple search in Wikipedia made me know that Broccoli is high in vitamin C, as well as dietary fiber; it also contains multiple nutrients with potent anti-cancer properties, such as diindolylmethane and small amounts of selenium.
But this is a vegetable not much associated with Indian cooking. When its loaded with whole lot nutrients, why miss it in our cooking. So I tried to make a stir fry of it by adding a few of our spices and it turned out great and has become my family favorite too!

Ingredients
1 medium sized onion
2 cups broccoli florets
6-7 garlic pods
Few almonds
1 ts pepper powder
1/4 turmeric powder
1 ts chilli powder
1/4 ts garam masala
Preparation
- Take a flat bottomed skillet. It is best to use flat and wide bottomed skillet for stir-fries. Add oil.
- Once oil is hot, add onion. Saute them till they turn translucent. Add finely chopped garlic and almonds. I prefer to grate them, as they cannot be easily picked by picky eaters. And almonds give a good crunch to the dish. You can replace them with any nuts of your choice. Fry them for a few seconds.
- Now add the broccoli pieces. Keep frying them for 5-10 minutes till they turn light golden and crispy. Avoid add water to boil them. If they stick to the pan, sprinkle some water then and then.
- Add pepper, turmeric and chilli powder. Finally add in garam masala. Saute for 2-3 minutes
