Here's a spicy mutton dish to kick and wake up your senses! Best of all...it easy, tasty and requires no oil!

Ingredients

250 gm mutton pieces

1/2 cup coconut slices

To grind
5 red chillies (adjust to taste)
1 ts pepper
1 ts cumin seeds
3-4 garlic cloves

Grind the above into a semi coarse paste with very little water.

Preparation

- Add mutton, coconut pieces and the ground masala into a pressure cooker with water just enough to cover the mutton pieces. Also add required salt.
- Let the mutton cook in high heat and allow to give 2-3 whistles.
- Then reduce the flame to a simmer and allow to give as many as 5-6 whistles for the mutton to get cooked well.
- After the air is released, open the lid and allow the gravy to get dried up well.

METHOD 2

Instead of grinding all the spices, try this way...add whole red chillies, crushed garlic cloves, cumin powder, pepper powder to the mutton in the pressure cooker and allow it to give required number of whistles for it to get cooked well. This is similar to the recipe of Sourashtra polta chaino (except for the addition of garlic)

METHOD 3 (Mutton pepper curry adding onion and tomato)

Grind onion, tomato, garlic, red chillies, pepper and cumin seeds in a blend. Grind them to a smooth paste. Add little oil in a pressure cooker. Add curry leaves. Add the ground paste and fry them until oil seperates from the masala. Add mutton pieces with a cup of water. Cook for the required number of whistles.
